Tiny Experiment #1: Required reflection on informational media
There are two problems that I want to address with this experiment.
Difficulty absorbing informational content
Over-consumption of informational content
Some people might argue that consumption of information is always good. My belief is that it becomes problematic when its draw has less to do with deep learning and more to do with stimulation, which I think has become the case for me. I have a desire for deep learning, but the ways in which I consume information are not aligned with effective strategies for doing so. Therefore, I need to try something different.
The hypothesis I'm going to test with this experiment is this:
Requiring reflection in the form of a 500 word blog post after consumption of all informational media will result in deeper learning and less media consumption.
The PACT I'm going to make for this experiment is that I will write a 500 word blog post for all informational media I consume for the next 7 days. I define informational media as any form of media content that is distributed with the purpose of educating.
On Sunday, April 6, 2025, I will reflect on the results of the experiment.
