Tiny Experiment #3: Continue to not drink in April
It's kind of strange how publishing these experiments makes them feel more concrete. This final one I'll set up today is an extension of the experiment I've been running this month, which is not drinking for all of March.
The difference in my life from not drinking for a month hasn't been profound, but it hasn't been painful either. I don't drink a lot normally, but I struggle to find the utility in including it in my life. It almost certainly has negative effects on my health, it interrupts cognition, it serves as a crutch in social situations, and likely increases my anxiety around social situations.
I've found myself tempted to start drinking again as the month comes to a close, but as mentioned before, I'm not sure for what purpose, which tells me that it's a dumb idea.
Overall, the results of this challenge have been positive, so I think it would be smart for me to continue into the month of April. With the structure of a tiny experiment in mind though, I thought it might be useful to turn the challenge into an experiment with a hypothesis and PACT.
Here's the hypothesis.
No negative effects will result from abstaining for drinking for the following 30 days.
I almost seems too obvious, but maybe I'll find some interesting results if I actually approach the experiment with this hypothesis in mind.
Therefore, I will continue to not drink any alcohol for the month of April.
